eel like you’re at rock bottom and everyone is telling you to “just be grateful”? I’ve been there.
10 years ago, gratitude just made me feel… lacking because I thought didn’t have anything to be grateful for.
But at the same time, I really wanted my life to get better.
I didn’t know where to start, and I came across the idea that practicing gratitude could improve your mindset and even attract positive experiences.
It cost nothing and I didn’t have to tell anyone, in case it failed! :).
So I gave it a shot.
I started with just 3 things. Anything I could find in the moment.
- I’m grateful for this day
- I’m grateful I woke up this morning
- I’m grateful my body is functioning
That was it.
Fast forward to today, there’s a growing body of research showing that practicing gratitude can:
- reduce stress
- improve mood
- even support better sleep
But more importantly, it really changed the way I see my life.
Did it magically fix everything? No.
But my life did get better.
Today, I still practice gratitude.
I can easily think of 50 things without trying, and I genuinely believe this habit played a role in this change.
If you’re in a place where gratitude feels impossible, start small.
Just think of 3 things – if you can write them down, even better. Do it for 7 days and notice how you feel.
What do you have to lose?
You don’t even need to believe in it fully.
You just need to start.
